The park of Uccellina, with its natural reserve, is definitely an unmissable destination to discover the Maremma near the sea. The suggested itineraries on the trekking portal in the reportage section are five:

Itinerary Abbey of San Rabano and torre dell’uccellina, EE level, difference in altitude 250 m, km 16.5 updating time: 6 hours.

Le Torri itinerary, level T, difference in altitude 150m, km. 14.2 travel time: 4 hours.

Cala di Forno itinerary, EE level, height difference 240 m, km 18 travel time: 6-7 hours.

Suitable for families: level t, altitude difference 120 mt, total km 5,2, walking time 2 hours.

Foce dell’Ombrone: level t (equipped for disabled), total 5,6 km, waliking time 2 hours.

We also suggest you go, even just for a walk, to visit the beach of Marina di Alberese.. The parking lot has limited spaces and is subject to charges, it is located in front of the sea and can be reached by crossing a beautiful pine forest by car or, better yet, by bike. The area is located within a reserve, that of the Uccellina park. Rangers control the area and it is easy to find picnic areas in the pine forest and find yourself in the company of squirrels and foxes, who now no longer fear direct contact with the human being.

The visit is recommended in the most peaceful moments of the year , because between July and August the Uccellina Park is a popular beach destination and very crowded: if you do not arrive early in the morning (by 9 am) you risk not being able to access the parking and the only alternatives are to leave your car or motorbike in the park car in Alberese and rent a bike , or take the shuttle bus. Marina di Alberese is famous for its white trunks and branches bleached by the sea, with which during the summer tourists build huts as a shelter for the sun. It is strictly forbidden, however, to take them away, as a fundamental part of the wild nature of the place.

Between Sorano, Sovana and Vitozza we find the archaeological park of the tuff city where you can find Etruscan buildings and paths dug in the open-air hills: via cava di San Sebastiano in Sovana, in Sorano in the rupestrian settlement of San Rocco starts the via cava which leads to the Lente river, the Vitozza area near San Quirico.

On Mount Amiata you will find various possibilities for your trekking.

Interesting programs of various nature and difficulty are organized by the CAI headquarters in Grosseto every month of the year, even during the winter.
